Ange Postecoglou has claimed Premier League managers have a harder job than the Arsenal-supporting prime minister as he bids to win Tottenham ’s first trophy since the 2008 League Cup and quell fan discontent.
"We have an election every weekend and either get voted in or out,” he said.
The Aussie manager eased the pressure on his own position with a 5-0 win at Southampton on Sunday - a result which saw Russell Martin promptly sacked. But the Spurs travelling support still sang throughout the game against chairman Daniel Levy and more protests are planned before Sunday’s match with Liverpool.

Postecoglou does not have to deal with a star player publicly declaring he wants to leave - and he insisted he has "no interest” in the future of Marcus Rashford.
But after Martin was sacked on Sunday night just hours after Gary O’Neil at Wolves, the former Celtic boss said: "You don't even get sacked in the morning now, you've got to change your song, mate! It's crazy.
"We have lost all modes of respect in our society where guys are in jobs and they are putting up names of who is going to replace them while they are still working. We have crossed that line now and it is pretty much open season.

"We are so quick to just throw people in the trash and move on really quickly with no thought or any care around it. It is why I have left before it has ever happened to me, mate, I jump out before that comes my way.
"We forget there is a human being involved. This job is the hardest job now in any walk of life. You can say politics but this is harder than any job. Harder than being prime minister?Oh yeah, how many times does he have an election? I have one every weekend mate. We have an election every weekend and either get voted in or out.”

So what makes Postecoglou believe he won’t be soon replaced by the Spurs board? "It could be confidence, it could be naivety, it could be I don’t care whether I’m allowed to see it out. I’m just not going to change," he said.
"I may be a dinosaur in that, but I still believe in legacy coaching. "If I was starting out, I have no doubt I would have a different mindset. I would go in as a firefighter, you’d get some results, get the club up and running and think it’s not going to last more than two years and see what my next move is going to be.”
The Aussie, 59, is old enough and wise enough not to condemn fan protests. "It’s up to them to express what they want to express.," he said. "Support does help but at the same time you can’t mandate that, you can’t tell people how to feel. It can have an effect.

"You deal with it as I’ve always done. It’s not my first experience. The first two or three games at Celtic they were throwing tennis balls on the pitch in protest, actually disrupting games. So it’s not the first time I’ve had to face this kind of thing.
"Hopefully they got to enjoy the other night, it was a special performance, especially the first 45 minutes. Tomorrow night, I have spoken about the atmosphere at Ibrox and Galatasaray and how I’d like that to be our atmosphere because it would certainly help us overcome a tough opponent in a really big game."
Could winning a trophy mend that rift between owner and fans? Postecoglou said: "It’s the unknown. If I go on the general sentiment since I’ve been in this job, it feels like a trophy will just make this place transform into something so let’s see.”

England star Rashford was dropped by Ruben Amorin for the derby win on Sunday - and then announced he wants to leave the Old Trafford club on Tuesday. He has been left out of the United squad again for the Spurs game.
And asked about Rashford’s comments, the Aussie manager said: "No interest. Don’t care. Not interested, he is a Manchester United player. A very good player, they have plenty of good players. But I manage my players and other managers will manage their own players. In terms of Marcus’ situation I have no real desire to examine it any further. There’s always noise about Manchester United.”
